Chitri Dam is situated in Sahyadri ranges near village Ite, 11 kms from Ajara Taluka place. The dam and reservoir premises are surrounded by mountains and very beautiful scenery. Chitri Dam is situated at 2400 ft. above MSL having water storage capacity 1.80 TMC. In the vicinity hills nearby the location of dam, paddy grown on stepped terraces of lands which have resemblance to Tea tree plantation at Kerala and Assam on the hills. Many more tourists visit this place in rainy season in entire surrounding and ambience enjoys rich flora and fauna nearly green throughout the year. Around the dam within reach of 20-25 km, there are other tourist locations like Amboli hill station, waterfall, Ramtirth temple and waterfall, Chaloba Temple etc.
The most of the dams such as Chikotra, Ambeohol, Jangamhatti, Jambre, Ghatprabha are the vicinity of Hill Station Amboli. They are also near to Belgavi & Amboli Road. Hence there is lot of potential for water sports such as boating, swimming, fishing, Garden Development in and around these dams.
Ajara is an ancient place situated on the confluence of the rivers Hirnyakeshi and Chitri. This taluka place is well known for jackfruit, cashew nuts, mangoes and Ajara rice. There are many varieties of rice growing in this area. Ajara played an important role during the rule of Kapshikar Ghorpade, Chh. Shahu of Satara and Fadnis Ichalkaranjikar. As such it also has a historical significance.
Ravalnath and Ramling are at a distance of 3 km towards north of Ajara. This area is a part of a fallen down fort. Near the temple in the river bed there is a small waterfall. The surrounding forests and the stones in the river are a major attraction for tourists.
Chaloba Temple is approximately 5 km from Ajara on a hill. In the evening one can see the beautiful sea of Vengurla from here.
Amboli near the border of Kolhapur is well known tourist destination.The forests, climate and natural beauty make it favourite with tourists.
Similarly Suleran at Kitawade (falling in Kolhapur) can be developed as residential spot for tourists. The climate, natural beauty is equivalent to Amboli. It’is said that Cherapunji of Maharashtra because this is place with highest rainfall in Maharashtra

Ramtirth is located at the bank of Hiranyakeshi River, 2 KM from Ajara town. It is famous tourist point surrounding Natural beauty. Legend says that Bhagwan Shri Ram had been staying here for some time during their ‘Vanvas.’ There is temple of Shri Ram and Shiv. The annual rainfall in the vicinity is about 3200 m.m. In the monsoon, Ramtirth waterfall with a beautiful scenery around is a good site for tourist. Ramtirth Waterfall is also famous for its beauty.
