DKTE Society’s Textile & Engineering Institute, Ichalkaranji(popularly known as DKTE) enjoys a unique and prominent place amongst the Engineering colleges that are engaged in education, training, research and consultancy in various disciplines of engineering. DKTE has been founded with a humble beginning of diploma course in 1982. Presently the Institute has been catering to Three Diploma Courses (All in Textiles), Twelve Undergraduate courses (Five of them in Textiles & Seven in Engineering), Five M.Tech Courses (including – AICTE which has granted permission to our Institute to start new Master of Technology course in Defence Technology, from academic year 2021-2022.), Doctorate programs in Textile Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering & Computer Science & Engineering and Management Studies MBA program. We have around 3875 students and 210 faculty members. We have established ourselves as one of the best Institutes for providing quality education. The Institute is equipped with excellent infrastructure in terms of spacious buildings, ultra modern machinery and equipments in our laboratories, well equipped Library, highly qualified and experienced faculty and staff.It is a moment of pride to share you that University Grants Commission, New Delhi and Shivaji University, Kolhapur have granted “Autonomous Status” to our institute from the year 2016-17. Our Institute has received A+ Accreditation from NAAC with CGPA of 3.53. All the eligible UG programmes have been accredited by NBA, New Delhi.
Our institute has emerged as the Winner of ‘Best Industry-Linked Engineering Institute’ two times in2015 & 2017 under Chemical & Allied Engineering Institute Category in the nation-wide survey conducted jointly by AICTE and CII. The institute has also been honored as ‘The Best Educational Institute for Textile Engineering’ by Ministry of Textiles, GoI, in 2013.
Our Institute has been ranked 33rd in the Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2020 in the category of Self-financed Institutes at national level.
Our institute has been identified to act as “Mentor Institution” under AICTE’s Margdarshak Scheme by AICTE, New Delhi and also as a “Potential Mentor” by UGC under PARAMARSH scheme to promote Quality and Accreditation under UGC.
AICTE has selected our institute for setting up of an IDEA lab. IDEA lab will be equipped with facilities, tools and consumables to support translation of idea to prototype development or develop a solution for problems as per industry requirement.
We have Collaborated with many leading Foreign Universities like: North Carolina State University (US), Eastern Michigan University(US), Troy University (US), University of California Los Angles-UCLA (US), Busitema University( Uganda), Copperbelt University (Zambia), Kenyatta University (Kenya), The School of Technology (Indonesia), Hochschule Niederrhein University (Germany), Chienkuo Technology University (Taiwan), HOF University (Germany), Technical University of Liberec (Czech Republic), Wuhan Textile University (China), Bergamo University (Italy), Yeungnam University (South Korea), Chonnam National University (South Korea), The University of Tennessee (USA), Northern University (Bangladesh), BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (Bangladesh), University of California Riverside – UCR (US), Saxion University of Applied Sciences (Netherlands), RWTH Aachen University (Germany) and Wollo University (Ethiopia).
Our Institute has been awarded many prestigious projects by Govt. of India like Centre of Excellence in Nonwovens(by Ministry of Textiles), Technology Business Incubator (TBI) by DST, TIFAC-CORE by DST, TEQIP(by World bank), ITDC(by DOIPP), etc and also projects from DST,AICTE,DRDO worth of more than 60 Crore Rupees all taken together for carrying out R and D work.
Govt. of India, Ministry of Textiles has designated our institute as ‘Centre of Excellence in Nonwovens’ and has supported with worth of Rs.27.0 Crores to this project. The objective of creation of Centre of Excellence in Nonwovens at one place is to provide infrastructural facilities for Testing, Incubation, and Prototyping of Nonwovens for the convenience of stakeholders.
More than 15500 alumni of our Institute are working at different capacities all over the world. Because of their commitment, dedication hard work, and excellent performance in various fields, our alumni has brought laurels to their organization and glory to our Institute. Many of our students are working in countries like USA, Germany, Turkey, UK, Iran, Thailand, Australia, Korea, Vietnam, Indonesia, Taiwan, China, Bangladesh, UAE, Kenya, Uganda and in many other countries.
